How this guide works
Most restaurant lists are one person's opinion, one platform's algorithm, or one advertiser's budget. This site is none of those. It's a cross-examination.
The three judges
The Crowd — Google. Ratings and review counts scraped from Google Maps for restaurants across Cebu City. Thousands of everyday diners; the best measure of consistency.
The Travelers — TripAdvisor. The city's ranked restaurant list, filtered to places holding 4 stars or better. Visitors judge the whole experience, and their rankings resist local review-swapping.
The Inspectors — MICHELIN. The 18 Cebu restaurants named in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Philippines 2026 (6 Bib Gourmand, 12 Selected), announced 30 October 2025. Anonymous professionals judging craft alone.
Matching & badges
We track 286 records across the three sources and match them by normalised name (branches are kept separate — MICHELIN picked Lantaw's Compostela branch, so city-centre Lantaw branches don't inherit the honour). Agreement earns badges: Triple Crown (all three lists), Double-Checked (two lists), Crowd Favorite (4.5★+ with 500+ Google reviews), Hidden Gem (4.6★+ under 150 reviews) and Peso Hero (4.5★+ under ₱500). Within sections, order comes from a Bayesian blend of ratings weighted by review volume — never from payment.
What we will never do
Sell placement. Rank with a secret formula. Trash a restaurant — every place here already cleared a high bar, and Cebu's food scene deserves cheerleaders, not hit pieces. If a restaurant is listed, someone genuinely loves eating there.
How the site pays for itself
Some “reviews & booking” links are affiliate links (TripAdvisor). If you book through one we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. Affiliates never affect who is listed, what badges they earn, or the order they appear in — the data decides.
Freshness & corrections
Snapshot captured August 2026; refreshed on a rolling basis. Ratings move daily and Cebu hours change often — always check the live listing before travelling across town. Spot an error or run a restaurant we've mislabelled? Email [email protected] and we'll fix it.
